Trying something new this season.

My plan or goal is to only get 5 key pieces/additions to my current fall wardrobe. I never pare it down like this, I usually do a wish list and pick up what I like along the way. Well I'm running out of closet space and I'm doing some major saving for the next year; so my disposal income will be limited. I'm having an extremely difficult time trying narrow it down to 5 pieces right now I have 10 that I feel are must haves but I have to cut it down so my final number may be 6. My greatest issue is shoes I can buy 10 pair a season and I can't do this and achieve my goal. So here is what I've come up with so far. I've limited it to one shoe but I know I will buy another pair I just haven't seen it yet. I may not get these exact pieces but this is a blue print.This grouping is subject to changes once I actually get into the stores and see the offerings. Any thoughts you would like to share, does anyone know what they are getting for fall?

Viva Las Vegas

I went to Las Vegas for a mini vacation. I had loads of fun. Here are a few photos to capture my time and style in Vegas. Boy it was HOT!!! I look kinda crazy in the photos but that's the oppressive heat trying to fry my brain. I wanted to show my favorite travel purse but I only captured the strap in the pic. LOL

I know it's been a minute

Late nights, Tequila Shots, and Good Friends

Earlier tonight I went out to celebrate one of my good friends B-days. I decide to wear my Burberry platforms and combine the very popular socks with sandal look. I'm not sure that wearing these shoes was such a good idea since we did tequila shots as a birthday toast.. so balancing was a tricky feat indeed. Thankfully I had a helping hand! I'm very sleepy so this post will be brief.

Denim Dressed Up

As always I see something I like and then I go on a search. I want a cute denim dress to wear this summer. Well to be more accurate I want another denim dress, something a little different than what I presently own. The pics above are the type of dresses I want to get because I think they are wearable, and below are my fantasy dresses/outfits that I don't think translate off the runway. I bought one dress already just waiting for it to arrive in the mail!

What a Difference a Day Makes!

The temperature dropped 10 degrees and it feels wonderful. Granted it's still hot but the humidity level dropped too so now you can breathe. Ran lots of errands today so I kept it super casual. I know I look shiny please ignore.

Jamba Juice and Trying to Beat the Heat

The temperature continues to rise even if it's only by a degree or two. Too hot to cook so I went to get one of my favorite smoothies from Jamba Juice for breakfast. A simple outfit to try to keep cool. Didn't want to leave the cool confines of my car to get my drink but gas prices are too high to waste gas by just sitting and running the AC! The temperature is suppose to drop 10 degrees tomorrow , alas a break from the extreme heat!

And the Heat Goes On!

I was hoping that the extreme heat would subside by the beginning of the work week. No such luck, it's even hotter today than yesterday. So that means I'm breaking my must wear pants or capris to work rule. I pulled out a dress I bought last summer and hit the road. Yes I'm showing the arms today but it's 98 degrees and like 150% humidity. So vanity be damn.

Mojitos, Cojitos and Galitos.

Yesterday was the first of many oppressively hot days in NYC! The heat and humidity were sweltering, reminding all New Yorkers that Manhattan is indeed an island. After spending much of the day inside, I decided to meet my cousin and my sister for drinks. As much as I enjoy being back home, I do miss SoCal for one reason( well there may be one or two other reasons) the ability to drive and valet park where ever you go. As I've previously mentioned I love heels but public transportation and heels don't mix. Parking in the city sucks, my sis and debating the merits of driving ie; we were planning to drink lots and giving up the hard to find parking space, in the end we argued so long we took a cab. I had on flats because we were suppose to take the train but we were running late. Yes one would think the train would be faster but all the construction/weird weekend hours that the train has lately, a cab was the most expedient way.I know I look like a rumpled mess but it was very hot and humid.

Ah a Summer Wish List

My Girl Crush!

When she first came out I didn't pay too much attention to her or her style. With release of her second album she became ubiquitous. The kids is my class loved her songs and I heard her daily.Unfaithful was a catchy tune but she was just another blip on the map to me. She had that overly played good girl image and didn't really stand out from the rest of the fray with the exception of her stunning eyes. A little time passed and it was time for the third album. BAM! She was back with a fresh new look, and showing off that bangin body of hers. All of sudden she was everywhere but in a good way, she had a definite look with more edge and was coming into her own style wise. Then she snagged a cutie and became a fashion darling to boot. After reading a couple of her interviews it was official , I was feelin her and impressed at how she was carrying herself in the spotlight. I'm sure many will say she's over saturated in the press but I just love her to bits and the risks she takes with her style! Oh she can rock some fierce heels with those mile long legs and her voice tone is sick too! She's really enjoying the ride! Go Riri!!

ETA- She's making me want to cut off all my hair and I haven't wanted to do that in a LONG time.

Another Family Celebration

Sorry about the insane glare off my mirror, not to mention the crazy streaks I was rushing out of the house because my ride decided to come early. I had another family celebration today, it's been a very busy week. I decided to pull out some shoes that I haven't worn in years, these Manolo Blahnik's that I purchased for an extremely affordable price at a Last Call sale at Neiman Marcus quite a few years ago. The color palette of my outfit goes well with the shoes. You can't see the belt very well but it's red to add a little punch of color to my outfit. The soles and heel of the shoes are actually red too but it's translating this weird color.

Movie Characters Style that Inspires Me

Along with my love of fashion, I love movies! Back in the day fashion and movies had a harmonious  relationship! The clothes were impeccable, timelessly chic and seemingly effortless, you actually believed that the clothes the characters wore were their wardrobe. One of my best friends and I used to stay up late to watch reruns of Hawaii Five O so we could ooh and ahh over the fashion!  As movies evolved so did the role of fashion but not always IMO in the best way! I didn't pick the usual suspects .  Here are several iconic looks from some of my favorite movies of the past. Some of these movies I only watch for the fashion. My favs of the bunch are Charade, To Catch a Thief ,  The Getaway, Klute. Foxy Brown.   I won't list too many because I'm sure I will want to revisit this type of post in the future! .To Catch a Thief , Charade  The Getaway, A movie whose name I forget, The Getaway, One million Years BC, Foxy Brown, Klute( some of the hottest fashion ever) and  Black Mama/White Mama
